    PRINCIPAL'S CORNER

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!  We are excited to have students back on campus! During the pandemic and transition to students returning to school last year, our parents were very supportive of procedures and policies put in place to help keep everyone safe. Together we will continue to make a difference this year.

We believe in equity, positivity, and restoration making wrongs right! We want all our students to feel welcome, to learn in the best way they can, and want to celebrate each other.  Our school will look for opportunities to collaborate, learn from each other, and grow together.  We welcome all cultures, race, and religious beliefs. Learning from each other and growing together will only make our school stronger!

We are looking forward to a great year!  Here are some tips for you and your children:

    • Be on time to school daily. It is difficult for children to make up lost time once the teacher has started a lesson or workshop time!
    • Communicate with your teacher. We are a TEAM and we can accomplish much together.
    • Enroll in ClassDojo to receive communications from the class and school.
    • Have a routine at home with bedtimes and meals.
    • No Bully Zone / Be a Friend: Students are encouraged to speak up and inform when Kindness/Respect is compromised.

Please see the school supplies chart on this webpage if you intend to go Back to School Shopping to prepare your child for school. We are looking forward to a year of fun, growth, and learning!

    Best regards,

    Mr. Littlejohn

    COVID 19 Rent Relief

The California COVID-19 Rent Relief program which is administered by the California Housing and Community Development Department launches Monday, March 15 in 48 counties (the remaining 10 are administering state funding independently). The program can assist tenants who have unpaid rent with up to a year of relief, does not jeopardize other federal or state benefits, and will initially prioritize individuals with incomes below 50% of area median income. Please share widely with clients and encourage any participants who are behind on rent to apply for the program as soon as possible as funding is limited. Both tenants and landlords can apply.  Click on this link for Rent Relief!

Frequently Asked Questions About Eventually Returning to School In Person

What are some of the health and safety precautions that would be taken upon a return to in-person instruction at school?

The health and safety of our students, staff and families is of the utmost importance. On-campus school will look much different than in previous years due to new health and safety measures. Current planning to reopen schools is based on the latest guidance from public health officials and state agencies and will be updated as the situation evolves. Examples of health and safety measures include required face coverings for staff and students, health screenings, frequent cleaning and disinfection and social distancing.

My child is enrolled in GATE. If we choose the full-year online option, will they have the same instructors?

When students are safely able to return to school in person, there will be some re-distribution of students and teachers to meet the requests of parents for online versus in-person options. The online program will still be taught by a GATE-trained teacher.

What are the guidelines for the school being able to be open by the local health officials?

The State of California has determined that schools and school districts may reopen for in person instruction if they are located in a local health jurisdiction that has not been on the county monitoring list within the prior 14 days.
